Lindner demonstrates three new products at IFAT - Recycling Today

Posted by Sarah Thomason, Intern

Austria-based equipment provider Lindner debuted three new machines at IFAT 2024 in Munich, Germany, earlier this month, including a new cutting system, stationary twin-shaft shredder and screw-on blade holder.

Merak is the new cutting system, which is said to be able to achieve an extensive range of particle sizes and used with various materials and applications. The New Alcor stationary twin-shaft shredder with a synchronous cutting unit is said to demonstrate high performance and application versatility. Finally, the company says in terms of ease of maintenance and serving, the new screw-on blade holder for the Komet series is necessary.

Linder describes the new equipment as robust, energy-efficient and flexible both in the diversity of materials and applications these shredders can handle are essential characteristics.

“These innovations have one main goal; to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of our customers,” Lindner Managing Director Michael Lackner says. “By providing new technologies, we enable our customers to adapt to changing market demands. This includes the realization of higher recycling rates and the processing of new waste streams.”

Merak 2800 EK

Linder says its Merak 2800 EK is setting new standards in versatility, productivity and throughput. The cutting system enables a shredder to be used for everything from coarse pre-shredding to universal and post shredding while achieving particle sizes that range from 30 to 350 millimeters. Due to the electric drive concept with three transmission ratios (55, 87 and 103 rpm), the rotor speed can be adapted to the input material, ensuring shredding is carried out at the optimum operating point.

The Merak primary shredding cutting system is designed for volume reduction and high throughputs and prepares materials optimally for downstream processes, whereas the Merak universal cutting system was developed for primary shredding as well as for one-step processing of a wide variety of material streams to a defined output size of 80 to 300 mm. The Merak secondary shredding cutting system is specially designed for small output sizes from 30 to 120 mm. Depending on the application and screen size, this cutting unit is ideal for the secondary shredding of wood or the processing of industrial and commercial waste into medium-calorific substitute fuel and to fuel calciners.

Alcor 5000 SY

Alcor 5000 SY is Lindner's new twin-shaft shredder, which the company characterizes by its customary high performance, efficiency and stationary design. The electro-hydrostatic 335 kilowatt-drive reacts quickly to changes in load and Lindner says its high torque makes it suited for tough materials. By using different shaft types, the Alcor can shred a variety of materials from wood, rootstocks, commercial and industrial and municipal solid waste to aluminum and mixed scrap.

Screw-on blade holder concept

The screw-on blade holder allows for minimal downtime and maximum machine availability, according to the company, and are now available for the Komet and Komet HP series. If nonshreddables cause deformation, Lindner says the knife holder can be replaced in 15 minutes. This was a job that previously took up to four hours because of the required welding work.
